Last week Mia and I braved the Dreamforce crowds downtown to connect with our friend Leslie for lunch and the grand opening of the Neiman Marcus Last Call on Market St. If you're in the market for designer gear on a budget check it out (no kids stuff tho :( )
Neiman's was nuts, so we breezed through quickly and then went to Bun Mee for a quick lunch to go. The line was long but even starting out the door we were done and had our food in just over 10 minutes.
I love banh mis and Bun Mee lived up to my expectations of a California-style version of the sandwich. Mia and I had the catfish (which I've never seen in classic banh mi shops), Leslie had the lemongrass pork, and we all shared sweet potato fries. We tried to eat only half and save the rest, but that didn't happen...
These mama stickers are all over the bathroom door. Very welcoming :)
We took our lunch to Crocker Galleria, a great space to eat outside IF you can get to their rooftop deck. Despite signs noting how to enter with a wheelchair no one seemed to know where the entrance was so we skipped it. If I had known we'd have so much trouble getting outside we would have taken advantage of Bun Mee's outdoor seating, which had plenty of open tables by the time our food was ready.
MAMA SAYS: Don't let the long line fool you—Bun Mee's food comes fast enough that you and your littles will be eating in no time! It's great to eat in or to go if the dining room is busy (common during weekday lunchtime). The menu includes some delicious salads if sandwiches aren't your thing, but if you haven't tried these Vietnamese treats before, give it a try!
