SF is such a good food town, if you're making small talk and the conversation hits a lull, just ask someone where their favorite burger/burrito/pizza place is. From the staunchest vegan to the heartiest meat eater, everybody has one—and now I have a new entry in the game: All Good Pizza, a food truck in the Bayview turning out delicious pies on an awesome outdoor patio.
I stumbled across All Good's al fresco patio with Mia one sunny afternoon shortly before closing time, and the set up just blew me away. I was only expecting a truck, but this is a full-on outdoor dining room in one of the sunniest parts of the city. Score! While I checked out the menu the guy in front of me praised the look of his pizza. He hadn't eaten there before, but like me had heard good things. "This pie looks LEGIT man," he said when his box came through the window. He was so excited he let me have a peek and he was right—it looked amazing.
I ordered a pepperoni for Jole and the special with ham, pineapple, goat cheese and peppers for myself (they are smaller than standard pizza sizes). They also have several salads, paninis and sausages (made by Evergood Fine Foods, also located in Bayview). While we waited Mia ran around exploring the huge woodchip-filled patio (she only put one piece in her mouth and quickly decided it was a bad idea before I could even stop her). The decor a rustic mix of beautiful murals, reclaimed signs and drought-friendly plants (no doubt from Flora Grubb Gardens just across the street). It felt like a fun and secret park or a friend's comfortable back yard. Its a perfect place to let the little ones run around, toss those wood chips and explore! While the ground is a little bumpy most oversized stroller wheels can take it with no problem.
And then our pizzas came and they were indeed legit! Jole's pepperoni had a healthy sprinkle of basil, and disappeared in short order. Mine was just the right mix of sweet and heat thanks to the pineapples and the peppers. The crust was thin and crispy and slightly browned on the edges—no burnt crust bubbles here (thank you!) One pizza per person was just enough to have a few slices left over for a midnight snack. I'm annoyed that we've spent so much time waiting at other restaurants when All Good serves a pizza that is just as good, slightly less expensive and has no waiting! They close early (hours are currently 11am-5pm), so planning ahead is required, but it's absolutely worth making plans to visit.
Another family ate their pies while we waited and several people came in to get orders before closing time—one guy was back for the second time in two days to get a bunch of pizzas for a meeting. The whole place gave off a welcoming vibe, and I know it is only going to get busier as more people hear about it.
MAMA SAYS: All Good Pizza is so worth a trip to Bayview for great pizza in an unexpectedly chill (and sunny) outdoor space! Order a few and swap slices because they're all delicious. The space is also great for a group so make plans to eat there when you have a little extra time to relax in the sun!
