My family is full of sports fans. My husband and I both grew up playing school sports and going to professional sporting events with our parents, and now that we have a child we've taken her to pro games (so far baseball and basketball) and she even plays tot soccer! Through her I've seen how sports supports her physical and mental growth, so when I heard about this great giveaway opportunity that's all about baseball I was in. One lucky winner will receive a Hometown All Stars prize pack, just in time for the holidays!
The Hometown All Stars is a book series for children that teaches early sports skills through interactive, educational activities, and most importantly, fun! This series is all about getting kids ages 3-7 years old outside and active again. The Hometown All Stars series is also for parents who don’t know much about baseball and want to be ahead of the curve when their kids begin to play; for teachers, librarians, and others who want to promote “Less Screen, More Green;” for sports enthusiasts looking for books to read at bedtime to their children; and anyone interested in promoting the love of baseball and sports overall to a new generation.
HOMETOWN ALL STARS AT A GLANCE
Nick’s Very First Day of Baseball
Nick’s Very First Day of Baseball teaches children about baseball using real coaching techniques. In this interactive storybook, kids will find hidden baseballs in the pictures, answer trivia questions, and there’s even a page for autographs from their favorite players. Fun, interactive and educational.
I loved that this book incorporated physical activity for kids to do while reading it. Now Mia is asking to do jumping jacks and helicopters with almost every book we read! And reading the numbers on the backs of player jerseys is great practice.
Magic Bat Day
Magic Bat Day is the first real practice after the Hometown All Stars get their uniforms. Batting is the most fun of all skills and drills! This book concept shows techniques of how to hold the bat and where to stand. Most importantly, it shows that every kid can find their own ‘magic’ bat and the magic within themselves to hit the ball!
I loved the diversity of the kids and coaches, and the reinforcement of baseball fundamentals like keeping your eye on the ball and swinging all the way through, and the benefits of repetition and practice to improve skills.
If you can't wait for the giveaway to end and want to buy these for the sports fans in your family, the Hometown All Stars team is donating a book for each one purchased, so your gift can help support others this holiday season as well!
