Tell me about yourself.
I am a third generation from Bayview. My childhood home, in which my parents still reside, is within walking distance of our home six blocks away. The weather is always nice, we have beautiful views, and unique homes in the Bayview. We decided to stay in the community because of the close knit community, friends, and family.
I am the Vice Chair of the San Francisco Democratic County Central Committee overseeing club chartering, the President's Cabinet and Endorsement-Palooza. I'm also founder of Leah Pimentel Consulting, helping clients meet their organizational objectives through an innovative range of research methods, training modules, event management services, communication strategies.
Tell me about your family!
Lawrence Taylor Pimentel (aka LTP) is four years old and a huge Transformer fan. He's renamed his teachers to Optimus Prime, Grimlock, and Bumblebee. We are very luck that LTP has such amazing teachers, they transform throughout the day from a car to a robot just like the Transformers because he's such a big fan.
He enjoys seeing the fish and albino alligator the California Academy of Sciences, ice cream at Mr. and Mrs. Miscellaneous, and sliding at the Dogpatch Playground. One of our favorite activities is making corn bread muffins. It's a family tradition that started with my grandmother and mother, and now LTP and I do it. Every Friday night he runs to the kitchen and grabs a box of corn bread mix and let's me know that is corn bread muffin time.
My husband Victor was also born and raised in San Francisco. He went to Mission Dolores Elementary School and Archbishop Riordan High School, and then on to The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina in 2004. After he graduated with a BS in Business Administration he joined the Army was Mosul, Iraq. When he returned home he became a police officer in San Jose, and he's currently a CrossfitCoach at Crossfit Potrero Hill and the President/Head Coach of Clean Break Barbell Club.
What tips do you have for parents raising kids in San Francisco?
Look for deals! There are many free events, classes, and attractions for San Francisco families. Some include a free trial class at My Gym Children's Fitness Center, Free Museum Sundays and the San Francisco Public Library's Discover & Go where library users who are San Francisco residents can access free passes to more than a dozen San Francisco museums and attractions with the use of their library card.
What’s your favorite stroller friendly restaurant in San Francisco?
My favorite stroller friendly restaurant is All Good Pizza in the Bayview. It is a family owned restaurant, that welcomes families and children. It's a place where kids can be kids.
